Rajpath, formerly known as “Kings Way” and “Janpath” as “Queensway”, is located in Delhi, the capital of India. Officially on 8 September 2022 it has been changed to ‘Kartavya Path’. After independence, King’s Way was renamed Rajpath. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has renamed it Kartavya Path. Rajpath is the same route where the 26 January parade takes place.

• Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Kartavya Path’ in a grand program organized at India Gate on Thursday, 8 September 2022.
• The name of this route has been changed thrice in its 102-year history.
• This route was built during the British Raj and the first name of this route was “Kingsway”.
• After the independence of India, its name was changed to ‘Rajpath’. Rajpath is the same route where the 26 January parade takes place.
• The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has given its nod to the proposal to change the name of Rajpath to ‘Kartavya Path’ and now Rajpath has been renamed as Kartavya Path.
• Under the Central Vista Project, the 3.20 km long route between President’s House to India Gate will now be known as ‘Kartavya Path’.
• A 15.5 km long walkway has been constructed from red granite on both sides of this route. Also 16 bridges have been built on 19 acres of canal area.
• New underpasses for pedestrians as well as modern lights have been installed In this green area spread over 3.90 lakh square meters.
• CCTV cameras equipped with modern technology have been installed on every part of this route and proper arrangement for parking has also been made.
• A 28 feet high statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has also been installed on the Kartavya path which is made of black granite .
