Independence Day is a big celebration across India. A highlight is when the Prime Minister raises the flag at Red Fort, and the parade is truly spectacular. Schools also join in by hoisting flags and organizing special activities for kids.

1. Flag Hoisting:  Independence Day isn’t complete without flag hoisting. On this day flags are raised everywhere, from Red Fort to schools. Take your kids to different places where flags are hoisted, or arrange a flag hoisting at your house. Many communities celebrate with sweets, games, and flag hoisting, where kids can take part in raising the flag themselves.

2. Organizing Skits: A fun activity for kids is performing skits. Indian independence is full of events perfect for a stage play. You can find scripts online or create your own. Kids can play different characters, making history come alive for them. This helps them learn about the freedom struggle in an engaging way.

3. Singing and Dancing Competitions: Independence Day is incomplete without songs like ‘Desh Rangeela’ sare jahan se acha and patriotic dances. Organizing a dance competition is always entertaining. Singing competitions are equally exciting, with kids performing songs like ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Mere Desh Ki Dharti’. These activities are great for young kids and bring a festive atmosphere.

4. 5. Fancy Dress Competition: A fancy dress competition can be a hit for nursery kids. They can dress up as freedom fighters and say their famous dialogues. Unlike skits, this is an individual activity where each child gets to shine.
